Well, the iOS version is on sale now because of the new version. TL DR: If you use 1Password's data syncing capabilities over Dropbox, you are essentially doing the same thing. You may or may not use these features, but I suspect in today's smartphone saturated environment 1Password is fairly useless without them.

At the same time, 1Password uses similar security to encrypt your password database. Which, while requiring physical access to your computer, has some major security flaws. OTOH, 1Password uses Dropbox as it's syncing architecture. It's still a risk, but no where near what most people think. The security risk of using Lastpass's storage is fairly limited. If successful, you then download the password database and decrypt it locally. When you log in, the page downloads your private key and attempts to decrypt it with your passphrase. Even the web page you log into does all the decrypting locally. Lastpass only knows and stores the encrypted database and an encrypted PGP private key.
